A warm, moist airmass is in place through Central Alberta with cooling coming in aloft from a developing weather system. As the day progresses thunderstorms are expected to trigger along the foothills tracking into Central Alberta. Some of these thunderstorms are expected to become severe giving large hail, strong winds and heavy rain. Tonight as the system spins up in Central Alberta heavy rain is expected to develop through Western Alberta. This rain will begin to taper off late Saturday. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm are expected with local accumulations exceeding 100 mm.
