Baby of British woman who died of swine flu also dies

A baby born prematurely to a woman in Scotland who subsequently became the first person in Britain to die of swine flu has also died, a health official said Tuesday.

A Scottish government spokesman, who declined to be named in keeping with government policy, said the baby did not die from swine flu.

All of the Middle Eastern cases arrived from the United States or New Zealand, heath officials said.

Also on Monday, Croatia's health minister said an earlier report by a WHO lab reporting the country's first case was a mistake.

$ g1 J) s( S" P5 g+ DWhen a WHO lab based in London doublechecked the finding, the tests were negative, said Health Minister Darko Milinovic. Earlier tests at a Croatian lab were also negative.

On Tuesday, health officials in Quebec said two more people — a man and a woman each between the ages of 30 and 50 who lived in the Montreal area — had died after contracting swine flu.
