Font: ****Fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. in a house on Chahley Crescent in the Cameron Heights subdivision, just north of Anthony Henday Drive. When fire crews arrived, they found one house engulfed in flames and two others on fire, said fire investigator Rod Lewis.

Fire crews called for more units, but by the time the fire was under control, the only thing left were three concrete driveways and a pile of rubble. 5 n0 k- [/ Y) X) H, ^# P3 j" Y/ p

The fire also burned off the roof and sides of two adjacent houses. It melted the vinyl siding and cracked windows on the houses across the street and across the back alley.

7 \# J. M: D" r$ b" o7 JLewis estimates the total damage at $1.5 million.

Watchman's new home was spared. "They did a great job," said the mother of four. The family moved in at the end of June. ( |. G) z5 T3 C- o3 i$ g

Friday morning, investigators taped off the scene and got ready to walk through the site. They'll start from the outside and walk toward the area of greatest damage, trying to rule out possible causes, Lewis said.

The first house was 85 per cent finished. The two beside it were still in the framing stage, which is one reason the fire spread so fast.
