* E& C! u1 }6 i4 E7 _impressing audiences at revivals was convicted Friday of murdering his
M( m: a7 R: C7 dwife and storing her body in a freezer for years.

told jurors that Anthony Hopkins terrorized his wife and young children, , W* n0 U( N7 V& l

After deliberating for 1 1/2 hours, the jury in Mobile also found 39-% F; h) d1 t7 w+ p3 t* y$ V. t
year-old Anthony Hopkins guilty of rape, sodomy, incest and sexual abuse ) A {0 f: |; u+ X
of a child between the ages of 12 and 16.

Hopkins was arrested in 2008 while preaching at a revival on charges 5 w6 Z; ~" H3 q% _+ I; X( O; b# g
that he killed 36-year-old Arletha Hopkins. Authorities said they were
* I9 m; h; H" L. X. }& s" eled to the body of his wife by a teenage relative that Hopkins had & H! |, S( l. J
abused and impregnated.

Investigators say Hopkins killed his wife in a violent fight in 2004

$ O' e' }7 n4 l0 iher, the couple's six children and two of her children from a previous ' s" Y3 s! H$ A' c: n' z _& V
relationship.

2004 and found his wife dead on the floor, with the youngest of her

Hopkins testified.

Hopkins served in the U.S. Army in Kazakhstan in the late 1990s and " \: [4 F" n% @
earned a medal for his service. Hopkins was arrested in Saraland, near 8 t* V4 Z# G" I' e& ^
Mobile, in 1998 for being absent without leave from the U.S. Army in
( r% ~# Z% p; Y& N5 w$ b- I. PFort Bragg, N.C., from June 15, 1995, until April 6, 1998.

% Q6 [9 n2 k9 A- L) k" bHe testified Friday that he decided to leave the Army after he got
) ?1 [3 S3 L6 [7 ?7 r3 norders to serve in Korea and could not take his family with him.
