爱屯有那些好中学？

朋友三月底来埃德蒙顿，其孩子正在读中学，想问一下有哪几家排名在前十而且是在租房相对便宜点的区域的公立中学？另外，有什么渠道可以查询？敬请知情人鼎力指点！非常感谢。。。。。。。

which one is new Scona?

To the west side of Calgary trail around 78 Ave. If you are driving by, you can see that big sport field and lot of trees around that area.

They have a good advanced placement (AP) program (something like that), big gym (which OCS does not ahve) and swimming pool nearby (not sure it is still in operation)

Right. It is usually referred as new scona in comparison to old scona

Some kids might be suitable for this one better than the other one. One of my colleagues went to new scona because his school principal dad did not think old scona being suitable for her.

You are welcome.

My daughter graduated from OSH. Therefore, I have no experience with the other two schools. This is what I knew about them although the information can be out of date.

Ainlay is a big school and has a lot of programs, e.g., art, music. Its IB program is good too. Only it was too big when I visited there. Their IB program is almost as good as OSH

New Scona had AP program which is more recognized by the USA universities. A friend of my daughter graduated from there and she was quite happy.

My daughter, different from most students, did not like OSh at all although she did well. The one problem was with English. Ms T. gave them such low marks that had some impacts on kids' applications for scholarships. On the other hand, it was a good training too as she got 100% for her IB English test.

GH a small school. Serves local kids and those who pass tests and draw. Some advanced couses in Physics and Math (if I did not remember wrong) for which students usually take in Ainlay. However, this advantage disappears quickly in high school.

VB, a big school, with enrolment restriction. AC program is good. Their provincial test results are not that great.

Crestwood, good school too. Only it is in the west I hardly know it.

My information could be too old as my daughter graduated from VB long time ago. To learn more, plz go to their open house. Actually, their open house is coming up soon (early March). Your kids school should have some information.

That Jr. school in Riverband is great too if you are living nearby.
