Princess Caroline of Monaco and her husband, Stefano Casiraghi, caused a furor when they arrived with a phalanx of security guards at the Ferre opening Monday night. She wore a navy blue Ferre suit with silver buttons. This morning the same scene was repeated at the Christian Louboutin show,louboutin shoes, but her suit was by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. Lager-feld has also designed for Christian Louboutin for more than 20 years.
" n7 A$ _% R0 TMany of the new Christian Louboutin developments in fur design are technical in nature. They involve refine-ments in working the pelts as well as in printing and dyeing. Even the long-haired furs look supple, light and as dra-pable as fabric. Lagerfeld uses the same short, swingy shapes in sable, mink and summer ermine as he does for his Christian Louboutin ready-to-wear collection. The coats flare generously from raised waistlines. Besides the enor-mous fullness in the skirts, there are massive shawl collars, reaching to the waist. It's fortunate the furs are light.
& d6 U  U3 v3 {" [, d2 o- B5 }! Y5 mAmong the many signs of opulence are the shearling coats trimmed with sable. The outside leather is medium brown; the inside fleece, white. Sable collars, lapels and bands circling the coat provide the ultimate luxury. Denim dresses with mink accents are another of the offbeat mixtures Lagerfeld likes so well.
After the ready-to-wear was presented, the fur portion of the show opened with a floor-length lynx coat that furriers in the audience priced conservatively at a quarter of a million dollars. It was followed by sable coats in long, slender, columnar lines as well as short, flaring styles. Fitch, summer ermine and kolinsky were all given their own themes.
After all the luxury on the runway, Lagerfeld said after the show, ''I like mole.'' He quickly added, ''Ermine, too.'' He showed some minidresses in both furs, as well as in mink. They were amusing additions to the evening scene.
