i+ U) k2 }0 z9 R+ ^7 DIf your brother joins the union, probably making more money and easy to start, but he will not learn too much skills, and probably he will not like the work at all. Union jobs, most are construction labour jobs, have very few technical things, and most time is far away from home. Not many people from China will like it. Many people are stuck in the union because they can make more money and they do not have many choice to find another job in Canada.$ D6 x) s) I' A/ d! Z1 X6 M- N" I# s

I personally suggest him to find a non-union job as an industrial maintenance job in manufacturing plant or as you said in your company. Give him a time to adapt and think about his career here after he finds out which is better for him. N1 C) E# y+ ?
7 T" D5 F, e+ r5 i6 _' zHe could possiblely apply for Electricial engineer in Alberta as well. It is not very difficult to find a job in Alberta than anywherelse in Canada if he applys and then gets a certificate as an Electrical Engineering in Training. Same as an electrician, four years later he could be a professional engineer, instead of an electrician at that time, he can make decent money while he has a decent life as well.

It is a very good pay of $28/h for a starter. I started $12.50/h. Some of my friends started $10/h, even volunteer without pay. I think the first couple years for a person is to know how working environment in Canada and to gain enough working experience. Sure, a first job is very important, but not how much his pay will be.. c% h* y! d2 S0 R1 r
8 U& G& d4 r1 W4 [5 E2 Q% pMy words to him, get a first job as earlier as possible, considering his background and experience, but not the payment; keep learning "spoken" English and then find out what he really wants to be his CAREER! |
