Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.

Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.4 n4 C% { Y! J" ~; H
# I2 x4 n8 s: B4 U“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.; J; d! Z l$ I2 F- y/ Z, ?

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
