generally speaking, any contractors will have to have sufficient insurance coverage before they can do any work. having said that, given kijiji isn't really a regulated site where anyone can post any ad on there, what you saw may or may not be a true registered contractor. in suce case, use at your own discretion. do your homework, check their references, insurance policies, etc. if they don't have insurance coverage, at a minimum get them to sign a disclaimer. keep in mind that a disclaimer isn't legally binding, which means it does not protect you 100% in the eyes of the court, but it will help you and tilt the court ruling in your favour should there be a need for it at the end (ie someone getting furt as result of doing work for you). |
