Well, i don't normally post anything on this site~~~~but when i see people r still suggesting to go to LAOBAI, i think i need to come out say something. I used Laobai before and trust me, it was not a happy experience~ i was trying to buy a BMW and he told me he only knew Japanese cars just after we had met. Why you came out see me in the first place if you think you do not know BMW?? The horrible experience began when he made me look like an idiot in front of the dealer. He used really simple techniques and tools that the dealer almost laughed at us. He almost could not speak English in front of the dealer but in the end, when i was talking price with the dealer, he came in and said in ENGLISH 'i think the car is great !'. I was like 'what happened? are you six year old?' 4 d z$ s- ^/ c: Z- X8 {9 {5 R

We saw two cars, a BMW 3 seriers and a Mercedes CLK, for the second car, the dealer was like 'you don't know how to drive this car, let me drive it for you', so the dealer don't even let him drive. The dealer then drove the CLK to a parking area, and ask me to drive. As i was a new driver at that time, i asked LAOBAI to drive back. He didn't check the car using his techniques and tools i think just because he was so embarrassed when the dealer told him to drop his voltage meter and just turn on the engine and read everything on the dashboard:)& S- J5 I1 ^0 k: o$ C/ F5 |

I found i was just being too nice to him when he told me he would charge me $100, as he inspected two cars, and an extra $10 for picking me up from my home and sending me back home.* M5 p" D- _) f% N) J7 l

I think he is a money grabber , maybe its just me, as i see a lot of people saying good things about him, but i know a friend of mine who had a bad experience with him too. So, at least he is not all THAT good.2 S2 I: a+ P# B0 J& o6 W6 P

Come back to your question, if you are buying a car, even for a car from a private seller, just take it to its brand dealership and told them you want a pre-purchase inspection, and a certified technician would do it for you. Do not go to any third party mechanic, as they are usually not certified and would not know your car very well. Normally it would be a 120 points inspection and would take up to 1.5 hours. (for like $150?). You would be getting a standard inspection report.) {" \, E. d5 a- ~3 x: W" B
