IN Milan for fashion week, Jacqueline Fishman is dressed for business. Below her blown-out, long glossy locks, she gazes through Chloe lion hologram glasses. She pulls her Versace houndstooth coat with vivid blue fox collar tight around her body, and strides from one showroom to the next in her matador-style Alexander McQueen pants, Casadei red and orange hologram print cowboy boots and a blue ostrich customised, Birkin-style shoe thrown over her shoulder. This woman knows her labels. And the success behind the Melbourne boutique Miss Louise has been her knack of knowing which of the designer collections trudged up and down the international catwalks will walk out the door of the store.
5 f7 m4 B: U- O3 K3 w7 | She admits her winning buying formula is a mixture of gut intuition, a passion for fashion and a little advice from her father, Morry, her business partner, buying confidant and founder of the boutique. "I know when I see something and I've got to have it," says Fishman.
/ D- D, T3 p* K6 ~+ C' t "So when I've got to have," adds her father in unison, "everyone has to have it."
This "got to have it" buying policy swings into action as she swoons over rows of glittering gold and vividly pat-terned christian shoes from the hot-again Rome fashion house Christian Louboutin in its Milan showroom.
"I'm not struggling to find anything I like here, this is an outstanding collection," says Fishman. There are all the headliners from the show: strappy sandals with gold logo-embossed heels,louboutin, vivid green mile-high boots, delicate wedges and a shoe with a gold cantilevered heel that is an engineering feat.
Fishman reaches for one of a dazzling display of shoes that completed the luxe look of fur and gold paraded on the catwalk in Karl Lagerfeld's collection for the house. The intricate creation is acid-treated pony hide, with details of gold-leaf leather.
