Police arrest two men after complaint of smelly truck carrying 1,500 pot plants

EDMONTON - Two men are facing charges after Edmonton police pulled over a truck filled with freshly cut marijuana plants.+ A$ n+ m+ V+ ~, Q& I9 j4 r* k( [

Police say they got a tip Thursday night from a citizen who told them he'd been driving behind a cube van that was giving off a strong odour of marijuana. `2 W) f" _# J( M/ M2 S$ L+ U" U
* i* D) J$ M# |& tOfficers who responded to the call said they also smelled the pot plants about half a block before they pulled over the van.- Q% @$ n0 k! p% e* M
- O9 J3 j3 Z: k9 \' f; Z/ k8 SPolice say there were up to 1,500 mature marijuana plants tied in bundles inside the van./ x4 ]4 [, ?# f- l! @* ^
v7 A9 n/ E# e4 l# m1 p/ b9 U6 qRoughly 400 kilograms of pot was taken from the vehicle and the driver and a passenger were arrested without incident.

Charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking have been laid against Dihn Xuan Luu, 44 and Deng Xuan Dihn, 51. |
