This was in a Vistek ad…some cool tips you may want to use.

Digital Black and White
1 r; }  n' `8 YShoot in RAW and underexpose your image by 1/2 stop to a full stop.
Use the shadow and highlights tool in a RAW software program to
restore shadow detail and Exposure Compensation to bring back details without overexposing highlights. Use the Channel Mixer, Black and White
methods provided by RAW and you'll have a correctly exposed black
/ O1 z, F+ j* x% sand white image.

White Balance
. m# o3 H& t* R8 m' [If in need of a quick white balance tool, you can use a standard
white coffee filter. Use the custom camera white balance while aiming
- z& z0 C$ S. ythe coffee filter and lens to the opposite of the light source to get white
' Q* V& r) s: e( Ebalance. I always keep coffee filters in my camera bag for
such occasions.

8 |2 p4 U( \9 u8 DPseudo ISO Boost
If you’re shooting in the dark at a concert venue and need more
2 y* ^: N, Y% o7 J8 U4 T* JISO boost from your camera and faster shutter speeds - choose
the highest ISO setting on your camera and underexpose your image
2 ?) L1 J' @5 B: S' B0 y- w1 N4 ^by one stop. Then you can use a RAW processor to overexpose the
, @0 E( D4 S) e% s  f  qimage by one or two stops. Image noise may be higher but this
works very well for concert, venue and event shooting.
