• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

PREPARATION:
& l0 d) d) \: N6 A/ j$ LBeat butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients; add to cream mixture alternately with beaten eggs, beating well after each addition.
0 T5 n+ Y" y& ?4 W9 S8 qTurn into greased and floured 8-inch tube pan or 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
3 N- ?, w9 U$ L5 ]6 g aBake in a preheated 350° oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes in the pan then turn out onto a cake rack. Cool and glaze or frost as desired. Store tightly covered.6 S2 @0 ?; b6 m& B# h

5 n* _8 m) o# {) c6 G% L, P- TI normally strictly follow the amount for each ingredient the recipe calls for, except SUGAR( I prefer to cut it to ¾ or 2/3 of the recipe. It is too sweet for some Chinese. But if you like the sweetness of the Cake Mix you got from super market, you can follow the recipe.; ^; P, z8 B8 h

For beating, you can buy a simple Hand Mixer for about $10. It can not only be used for making cakes but also bread, or mashed potatoes(土豆泥)ect. |
